RESPONSIBILITIES: - Responsible for conducting full category management reviews, analyzing business issues, and providing business insights and recommendations in the areas of assortment, pricing, promotion, and shelf presentation to drive business results utilizing a variety of syndicated and internal data. The Analyst will work closely with the sales team to lead with insights and to develop appropriate recommendations and actionable plans to achieve both Hormel and retailer goals. For example, the Analyst may perform assortment analysis, identifying distribution gaps for the retailer and appropriate actions to close said gaps. The findings and plans of action are then presented independently, or with the Customer Business Manager at category line review meetings.
- Provides periodic and ad-hoc reporting based on issues discovered in the reports that dig deep into markets and products issues with solid recommendations. Monthly delivery of actionable (actionable = answer the so what + action) tracking reports to include, but not limited to:
- New items and their incrementality and volume transfer
- Market share
- Modular tests & new strategies
- Pricing/promotion
- ROM performance
- Internal category reviews
- Utilizes Walmart Scintilla to provide insights to develop recommendations that focus on performance and strategy of the category and/or the brand.
- Responsible for competitive and marketplace intelligence, analysis, and reporting. This would include share gap reporting, price gap reporting, and market visits that determine competitive retailer strategies and tactics. For example, the Analyst will analyze market gap opportunities for the partner retailer. The incumbent would execute a POS and Panel analysis to understand the performance dynamics and may perform a market visit to understand specific tactics that support the share advantage.
- Works with and supports the sales team to become an expert in the categories they represent and demonstrates the ability to synthesize learnings from various sources to create clear, impactful, and unbiased recommendations in a visually appealing manner.
- Operates with a customer service mindset and is responsible for relationship management, both internally and externally - and the ability to act with autonomy to understand the resources available to achieve goals.
- Challenges the status quo, embraces technology, puts forward creative ideas, champions and implements process improvements, gathers the ideas of others, demonstrates good judgement about which ideas will work.
- Provides leadership to less experienced Analysts and assists in their training. For example, the incumbent will share knowledge in Excel, IRi, POS/Panel, Retailer Shoppercard, Numerator, HIVE, and general category management best practice guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:Required- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of sales/marketing/analytics experience.
- Pattern of initiative.
- Proven problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment on a variety of complex projects.
- Well-developed interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to negotiate with the customer.
- Proficient in working with IRi data.

Preferred- 2+ years of sales/marketing/analytics experience.
- Strong knowledge of Assortment and Shelving Strategy.
- Experience with Walmart Scintilla would be a plus.
LOCATION: Bentonville Sales Office (Rogers, AR)
A comprehensive relocation package to the Rogers, AR area will be offered, if required.
At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for the Sales (Sr.) Analyst role is between
$71,075 - $115,925 per year, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
