Volt is immediately hiring for a Director of SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) in Rockwall, TX (relocation assistance available).

As the Director of SMC, you will:
  • Lead the SMC manufacturing organization to ensure on?time production and delivery in a vertically integrated operation.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of personnel engaged in manufacturing parts and components to meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Drive efficiency, productivity, professional development, and a high?performance culture across the department.
  • Oversee all departmental training, including new employee onboarding, bill of materials, spec sheets, quality training, and any job?specific training required for proper function.
  • Review production schedules and requirements to determine processes, materials, machines, tooling, and sequencing.
  • Learn, assess, and continuously improve standard operating procedures for increased efficiency.
  • Recommend improvements for production methods, equipment performance, quality, and workforce optimization.
  • Evaluate capacity and forecast needs for infrastructure planning.
  • Conduct in?process inspections and verify finished components for quality conformance.
  • Implement continuous improvement and performance?driven culture standards relating to on?time delivery, productivity, attendance, PPE compliance, and housekeeping (5S).

This is a full time, direct hire opportunity.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • SMC experience is mandatory to be considered for this role
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required).
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time?management skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience with plastics, polymers, compression molding, or thermoset materials (highly preferred).
  • Strong decision?making abilities supported by data analysis and statistical process control.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or ProE) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and develop teams.
  • Hands?on approach to production support and problem?solving.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP (preferred).
  • Ability to read instructions, understand SDS documents, and follow ISO requirements.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Additional experience in continuous improvement or process optimization.
  • Background in vertically integrated manufacturing environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of SOP development and capacity planning.

Salary: $100,000 - $130,000 per year.

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
