Position: Director of Safety, Health & Environment

About the job:

This position will be responsible for all aspects of Direct Lines Safety program, including managing compliance and directing the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of safety programs across Direct Lines operations. This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with internal corporate policy and external regulatory requirements and initiatives.

What you will do:
  • Manage performance and accountability for Safety for all divisions.
  • Responsible for developing, promoting, and implementing a proactive, positive safety culture - Actively promotes a zero-injury culture across all employees and functions.
  • Develop, implement, and manage all safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with Federal, state, and local regulations (Assure compliance with internal and external requirements).
  • Reviews new designs, processes, and projects to identify and eliminate EHS impacts.
  • Develop proposal Health & Safety prequalification requirements.
  • Performance Management:
    • Track and evaluate leading and lagging indicators and collaborate with company executives, site leadership, and insurance risk management services to develop and implement corrective measures and provide expertise in the inspection, analysis, audit, and investigation of our safety practices.
    • Compile, calculate and manage associated injury safety statistics and complete OSHA and client requirements.
    • Manage reporting and investigation of all accidents/incidents and assist with effective corrective measures.
    • Develop and lead company-wide multi-year safety strategy to provide program direction for leadership and management.
    • Remains current with all applicable regulations and company policies and implements appropriate programs to ensure compliance.
    • Assist Human Resources in driving worker's compensation program, claims management and injury management.

What you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field is required (Occupational Safety. Health, Environment or Compliance or combination of related certifications), Master's Degree preferred.
  • Must have minimum 15 years of experience in managing EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) or similar programs at the facility and enterprise level - (Arch & Engineering environments).
  • Must have overall knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations (10/30/500/510 OSHA certifications preferred).
  • Safety related licenses, certifications and/or membership in EHS professional associations are required.
  • Occasional travel for office and site visits 10-15%.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present information to a diverse audience.
  • Pro-active and critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Strong successful experience in working directly with operations; with proven record of leading direct and indirect reports.
