The Abu-El-Haija laboratory in the Gastroenterology department is seeking a motivated and team-oriented research assistant to help move our research on pancreas diseases forward. The research assistant will perform basic biospecimen handling, which includes isolating plasma, buffy coat, processing tissues and their preservation, microbiome samples, etc. They will prepare RNA and DNA from each sample, coordinate generation of RNASeq data, RT-PCR for select genes, will coordinate IHC of slides. They will also perform biochemical experiments (e.g. Western blotting, ELISA, flow cytometry, immunostaining and imaging, etc.), lab maintenance, sample shipping, sample organization.
