About the Job:

We are looking for a Construction Quality Engineer (QE) who will support our project management and leadership teams by leading the quality assurance and control aspects of construction projects. The QE is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities, materials, and processes meet or exceed established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications. QEs work closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure that quality is maintained throughout all phases of the construction lifecycle. The QE applies leadership skills and technical expertise to guide quality deliverables across all project activities and routinely collaborates with cross-functional teams to achieve project excellence across all designated project scopes. QE must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering improvement opportunities hidden within established work practices and excels at implementing solutions while working with stakeholders to continuously improve business outcomes.

What you will do:

Core Responsibilities
  • Plan, conduct and report on required Quality Control inspections of worksite readiness, work in progress, and work completed.
  • Identify process and installation non-conformities and evaluate root cause. Define and verify corrective actions and preventive actions are implemented to maintain optimal project quality performance.
  • Identify and prioritize continuous improvement opportunities. Activate and lead improvement initiatives based on management direction.
Project Quality Assurance:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) plans for construction projects.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of construction activities, materials, and workmanship to ensure compliance with design specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Establish and maintain a quality management system (QMS) to monitor and improve project performance.
Inspection and Testing:

• Conduct routine inspections of construction materials, processes, and completed work to ensure compliance with project specifications, customer standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Oversee material and component testing processes (fiber optics, copper cable, switches, etc.) to ensure compliance with performance standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Verify that all materials and equipment meet the required standards and specifications before use on-site.
  • Perform root cause analysis for defects, issues, or material failures and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare detailed quality reports, inspection records, and non-conformance documentation according to standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain and track all quality-related documentation, including test results, inspection logs, issue reports, and material/equipment certifications.
  • Provide regular and standardized updates to internal and external project stakeholders on quality performance and compliance issues.
Compliance and Standards:
  • Ensure that construction activities adhere to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications (e.g., ISO 9001, ASTM, ACI, and local building codes).
  • Stay updated on changes in codes, regulations, and industry best practices and integrate them into project processes.
Communication and Collaboration:
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to address quality issues and implement solutions.
  • Act as a liaison and department leader between field teams and project leadership to ensure quality objectives are met.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to staff on established installation methods, quality processes, and compliance standards.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities and lead projects to improve construction processes, reduce defects, and enhance overall project quality.
  • Lead initiatives to implement lean construction practices and quality improvement programs.
Training and Support:

• Assist in on-site training of quality and field staff on application and maintenance of quality standards, inspection techniques, and proper documentation processes.

What you will need:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred.

Experience:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in quality management, quality engineering, construction/field management, or a similar role.
  • 2-3 years of experience in data center construction or telecommunications installation preferred.
Knowledge:
  • In-depth understanding of telecom construction materials, methods, and processes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO, ASTM, BICSI, and local building codes.
Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Certifications:
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt required
  • Certified Quality Engineer preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
  • OSHA 30 Construction Safety Certification preferred

Working Conditions:

Work conducted in a Construction Office and Active Construction Zone environments.
  • Requires regular visits to active construction zones, with potential exposure to varying weather conditions and construction hazards.
  • May involve occasional travel to other regional project locations and/or extended work hours to meet project deadlines.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The starting pay for the Quality Engineer position is $85,000 annually to $100,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
