Primary Purpose

The Prin Ops Support Specialist is a content expert and/or training process expert who develops and delivers training that integrates business processes and systems with skills and knowledge required for employees to safely and effectively perform job duties. They assess the organization to identify areas that require training to reinforcement business process, skills and/or knowledge and provide coaching and guidance to SME Adjunct Instructors. The Prin Ops Support Specialist administers the regulatory training compliance programs for both Initial and Continuing Education training, ensuring that all control room personnel achieve and maintain their required certifications with PJM and NERC and they develop and administer the Initial Qualification program that each new hire must pass to be qualified as a dispatcher. The Prin Ops Support Specialist coordinates and facilities training drills with Regional Transmission Organizations

Note: This is a hybrid position (in-office with remote flexibility). Employees are required to be in office at least three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). This position must sit out of our Lombard - IL office. This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

Primary Duties

Deliver Technical Training content required for new hire and incumbent employees to perform job duties safely and in accordance with COMPANY procedures and fundamentals.
Design, develop and maintain complex technical training materials utilizing the systematic approach to training from the analysis phase through evaluation
Design, develop and administer complex technical skill and situational awareness and response qualification testing utilizing simulator, written and oral testing methods
Develop and maintain the Transmission System Operations procedures, manuals and guides that govern the day-to-day operations of the system in normal and emergency situations.
Coordinate and facilitate training drills that involve Regional Transmission Organizations ("RTO"), Interconnected Transmission Companies, Interconnected Generating Companies, Interconnected Customers, Exelon organizations and regulatory agencies (PJM, NERC & FERC).
Evaluate training effectiveness through appropriate student evaluation and post training effectiveness evaluations making modifications to the program design to increase program efficiency.
Administer operator qualification and certification programs.
Investigate and develop business case for new Operations tools and programs.
Influence external organizations and regulatory agencies, via participation in committees, such as PJM Dispatcher Training Task Force, PJM Working Groups / Task Forces and NERC committees to influence policy development.

Job Scope

The Prin Ops Support Specialist is responsible for the development and delivery of Transmission System Operation continuing education training program, initial hire training program and the administration of the operator qualification and certification program. The Prin Ops Support Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of the Management Model Policies, Programs and Procedures that govern the day-to-day normal operations and the emergency operations used by the control room. The Prin Ops Support Specialist actions have a significant and direct impact on transmission system reliability and public and employee safety. The Prin Ops Support Specialist has direct interaction with internal and external customers such as: Regional Transmission Organizations ("RTO"), Interconnected Transmission Companies, Interconnected Generating Companies, Interconnected Customers, Exelon organizations and regulatory agencies (PJM, NERC & FERC).

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related technical field plus 7-10 years of experience OR in lieu of Bachelor's degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience is required.
Experience in the operation, planning, design or maintenance of high voltage electrical equipment
Advanced knowledge and use of computer systems and applications w/ Word/Access/Excel/PowerPoint/PI-historian
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to coordinate activities with other Energy Delivery departments, PJM and Generating Plants
Demonstrated teamwork and strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as a Transmission Dispatcher
Experience as a trainer in adult training situations
Knowledge of PJM rules and regulations
Knowledge of Clearance and Tagging
PJM certification
NERC certification

Annual salary will vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $118,400.00/Yr. - $162,800.00/Yr.
