Your ImpactAs an Orientation & Mobility Specialist, you will provide individualized instruction that helps students participate more fully and independently in school and everyday life. You will:
- Teach safe, effective independent travel, orientation, and mobility skills
- Assess each student's strengths, needs, and learning environment
- Adapt instruction using visual, auditory, tactile, and nonvisual strategies
- Develop individualized goals and service plans
- Collaborate with families, educators, related-service providers, and school teams
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Advocate for accessibility, independence, and meaningful participation
What You'll Bring- A degree in Orientation and Mobility from an accredited program
- Current certification-or eligibility for certification-as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist
- Strong knowledge of independent travel skills, mobility techniques, and adaptive instruction
- The ability to individualize services for students with diverse needs
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
- A genuine commitment to empowering students with visual impairments
