Sandblaster/Painter to support major shipbuilding, marine repair, maintenance, and vessel construction programs in Multiple Locations. Essential Functions:
- Perform abrasive blasting to clean and prepare marine surfaces including hulls, decks, tanks, piping, and structural steel.
- Prepare surfaces for coating through cleaning, sanding, masking, and surface preparation techniques.
- Mix and apply marine-grade primers, epoxies, sealants, and finish coatings using airless and conventional spray equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, paint specifications, work instructions, and technical documentation.
- Inspect blasted and painted surfaces to verify proper coating thickness, adhesion, and overall quality.
- Maintain blasting and painting equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Work safely in confined spaces, at heights, and on scaffolding, lifts, or other elevated work platforms.
- Follow all environmental, safety, and quality procedures while handling paints, coatings, abrasives, and hazardous materials.
- Support shipbuilding, vessel repair, and marine maintenance schedules while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 4+ years of sandblasting and industrial painting experience, preferably in a shipyard or marine environment.
- Experience operating abrasive blasting equipment and industrial spray painting systems.
- Familiarity with SSPC/NACE surface preparation and coating application standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, paint specifications, and work instructions.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in physically demanding work environments.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and the proper handling of paints, coatings, and hazardous materials.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
