The
Purchasing Supervisor oversees the day-to-day activities of assigned team members and purchasing operations; and provides leadership that creates cohesiveness and accountability. In addition, this position monitors and reviews requested orders to identify and resolve "on hold" items, or to contact the appropriate contact for resolution; initiates the purchase of aircraft parts, for special programs and new equipment, via telephone, internet, fax, etc.; and responds to inquiries from team members, external customers, vendors, and the general public and resolves departmental problems/issues. The supervisor acts as a positive role model by mentoring team members and supporting company/department decisions.
Essential Job Functions - Supervises day-to-day activities of team members. Coordinates and leads hiring of new Purchasing team members. Assists with training team on the daily operations and promotes Duncan Aviation culture in the work environment. Holds team members accountable to Duncan Aviation approved policies and procedures, including professionalism, safety and cleanliness of the work environment.
- Monitors and reviews requested orders to identify and resolve "on hold" items, or contact the appropriate contact for resolution. Initiates the purchase of aircraft parts for special programs, and new equipment, via telephone, internet, fax, etc.
- Supervises all aspects of purchasing operations to ensure quality and efficiency, including proper documentation and application of departmental processes and procedures. Participates in Purchasing annual budgeting and strategic planning. Gathers and analyzes data for tracking workload and trends. Represents department at Company meetings and projects. Initiates and completes special projects needed for continuous departmental improvements and meeting departmental goals. Resolves Purchasing issues as needed. Assists with the evaluation and selection of new vendors for purchasing services.
- Promotes growth and development of team members to support departmental cohesiveness, trust and accountability. Evaluates and reviews team member performance in a professional, positive, accurate and timely manner. Recommends training needs and programs, and identifies and recommends training opportunities for team members. Participates in personal and leadership development opportunities. Demonstrates leadership and professionalism at all times.

Education and Experience - Associates degree in Business, Parts Management or related field or equivalent required
- Minimum three years previous purchasing experience required
- Previous aviation purchasing experience preferred
- Previous leadership and supervisory experience preferred
- Proficiency with general computer skills and Microsoft Software (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.)
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
