HX5 is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Brook Park, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The selected candidate will provide engineering support for technological development of superconducting motors as well as cryocoolers for cooling superconducting systems.
Required Skills:The selected candidate must have the following experience:
- Understanding of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Excellent 3D modeling and drawing skills preferably using Solidworks.
- Familiarity with sensors and data acquisition systems.
- Skill at troubleshooting mechanical hardware.
- Knowledge of heat transfer principles and thermal management for test environments.
- Awareness of lab safety protocols and handling of mechanical systems under operational conditions.
- Ability to create detailed test procedures, test plans, setup diagrams, and reports.
Other Desired Skills:- Cryogenic and vacuum systems
- Fluid system design
- Operating and preparing test setups
- Familiarity with electric systems
Education/Experience:Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited program, with the following education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree with 2 to 5 years of experience.
- Master's degree with 0 to 3 years of experience.
Other Position Requirements:- Proof of U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for this position.
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
