What you need to know - TTI is a Texas based agency. This position has the flexibility of a hybrid remote option with two days in a TTI Texas based office. This can be discussed further during the interview process.
- Your primary duty station will be TTI Headquarters located at 1111 Rellis Pkwy, Bryan, TX 77807. You are required to report to this location for the first 30 days of employment. Following this initial period, a flexible work arrangement may be approved at the agency's discretion.
- The salary range for position is commensurate. Final salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.
- A Presidential proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. Please be advised that Texas A&M University will NOT pay this fee. Therefore, if you need immigration sponsorship for your employment, we recommend that you consult with your private immigration counsel at your own expense to ascertain whether your current immigration status would make a potential offer of employment from Texas A&M University subject to this fee.
- In addition, on January 27, 2026, Texas Governor Abbot issued a moratorium on the filing of any new H-1B unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. - This position may pay more than the proposed minimum salary range listed, depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.
Job SummaryThe Assistant Transportation Researcher, under general supervision, conducts transportation research in a support role while developing the skills needed to conduct basic research functions. Assists with proposal preparation, data collection and compilation, data analysis, and report preparation. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Supports PI or researcher with research studies, including assisting with data collection, literature reviews, and other related activities. (15%)
- Assists PI or researcher assembles, analyzes, organizes, synthesizes documents, and archives data sets, data models, and metadata. (15%)
- Assists PI or researcher with the preparation of written reports and other correspondence. (10 %)
- Attends in-person and remote meetings and takes and edits notes. (10%)
- Edits and reviews traffic control plans. (20%)
- Attends site visits for projects and events that could include weekday, weekend, and after traditional 8 to 5 work hours. This could also include moving traffic control to ensure it aligns with the traffic control plans. (15%)
- Assists PI or researcher with assistance on proposal writing. (5%)
- Provides assistance to developing 508 compliant content for project websites. (5%)
- Performs other duties as assigned. (5%)
Required Education and Experience- Master's degree in urban and regional science.
- No years of related experience.
Required Knowledges, Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Knowledgeable in various research and testing methodologies.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
- Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to synthesize literature, research reports, and/or journal articles.

Required Licenses and Professional CertificationsPreferred Qualifications- Well-versed in AutoCAD, Rhino, Sketchup, and Bluebeam.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation and urban planning fields.
- Experience in traffic control preparation for large special events and elements associated with traffic control for large special events.
- Field experience in special event operation to ensure traffic control in the field matches the traffic control plan.
- Video count data analysis for multimodal transportation corridors.
- Experience in developing graphics using Canva.
- Experience in creating digital twins for parking garages.
- Certificate in Geographic Information Science (GIS).
- Certificate in Sustainable Urbanism.
- Certificate in Transportation Planning.
Physical Requirements- Ability to frequently communicate with other individuals within the workplace.
- Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Ability to perform common office functions.
- Ability to move traffic control, while wearing personal protective equipment, during site visits for events and projects.
