JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIESPOET is currently one of the nation's largest container exporter, exporting feed products to more than 20 countries. We are excited to have recently acquired a rail-to-container transload facility in Savannah, Georgia! By expanding our footprint, we will continue to drive consistency and demand within several of POET's key markets for POET DDGS & POET CFP animal feed. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient repair of equipment, preventative maintenance, and fabrication of projects associated with terminal operations.
This is an on-site role located in
Savannah, GA. Responsibilities include:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair various electrical components and systems.
- Inspect electrical components and complete preventative maintenance.
- Ensure electrical equipment and wiring conform to code.
- Perform installation and maintenance work as part of a team of skilled trade team members.
- Install, repair, and maintain terminal machinery and equipment according to construction plans, blueprints, and other drawings in industrial establishments.
- Use hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools on a variety of projects.
- Dismantle and repair various machinery.
- Identify hand tools, fasteners, and other equipment used in the trade and distinguish their applications.
- Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
- Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
- Assemble or fasten machines, bolts, welds, and rivets to foundations or other structures.
- Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
- Maintain and advance the food safety and quality of POET's products and processes to deliver a best-in-class culture of quality.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 years of previous electrical experience required.
- 3 - 5 years of previous maintenance experience required.
- You have basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the millwright field.
- Experience with MIG and stick welding tools preferred.
- Ability to plan work, solve problems and make decisions based on quantifiable information.
- You are a self-driven, energetic and a team player.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to embrace change.
- You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You're capable of learning new programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Due to the physical and safety-sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process. During employment, you'll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
- This role has physical requirements that our team members will need to be able to perform, such as:
- Occasionally lifting weights up to sixty (60) pounds.
- Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders.
- Occasional bending, twisting, and turning while lifting weights of less than fifty (50) pounds.
- Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour.
- Walking up to two (2) or more miles per day.
- Pushing brooms, shovels, etc.
- Working at heights, in confined spaces, and at temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- This position is largely self-directed and requires a thorough understanding of company policy, procedures, and values. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements at all times and in all work environments. The team member may be exposed to high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and chemicals.
- The work environment at POET is dynamic. You should expect a balance between time spent in the office and at the terminal facility, which may include some physical labor helping your team members.
