POSITION SUMMARY:

Support the engineering team with the development, implementation, and maintenance of plant floor systems, computer networks, telecommunications, and other information systems in support of the manufacturing operations.  Participate in a creative and innovative environment to lead in driving efficiency in order to reduce costs.  Work with Global Technology Group to leverage the best of best communication systems used in industry today. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Infrastructure support including implementation of all integration projects in the plant..
• Under the direction of the Process Engineer, support building system competencies.
• Provide technical support to update the configuration of the computerized systems.
• Provide training and assist with troubleshooting.
• Assist with defining new, more efficient processes and system capabilities in the plant.
• Assist with supporting the enforcement of standards that ensure global consistency of manufacturing and integration systems.
• Actively participate and support the plant system’s network.
• Follow through on problem determination, prioritization, resolution, and closure of reported issues.
• Document solutions and update the knowledge database.
• Assist with database development and maintenance (SQL, InSQL).
• Works with corporate and external resources to develop, install, and maintain SAP xMII interface applications.
• Utilize Wonderware MES client modules to improve the throughput and efficiency of plant operations. 
• Maintain and expand current technical expertise.
• Meets yearly plant and department objectives.
• Assist project managers in achieving capital project deliverables
• Write functional specifications for hardware and software purchases
• Investigate new computer hardware and software technologies for business and plant floor systems.
• Coordinate internal and external resources (software integrators, hardware support)
• Start-up and troubleshooting of computer systems

Maintains positive and productive relationships with co-workers.
Meets commitments to all Topeka plant employees and follows up to ensure that they are satisfied.
Maintain a positive working relationship with Colgate Palmolive Global Technology Group in order to properly maintain systems and software standards.
Communicates with engineering, operations and all capital project managers for project planning and implementation.
Communicates and documents all system changes to the appropriate plant, corporate personnel, and other Hill’s facilities.
Utilizes available resources so as not to spend excessive time troubleshooting problems.
Procures products and services from suppliers and contractors.

BASIC QUALIFICATONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Information Technology or related technical field
• Proficiency with SAP usage (or a comparable ERP system) and knowledge of tranactions (Production Orders, Production Confirmations, Material Movements, Quality notifications).
• Ability to configure and work with various databases exchanging information through the network between IT systems and control systems in manufacturing departments.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment and the ability to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment automation issues.
• Proficiency with SAP usage and knowledge of SAP transactions.
• Able to grasp technical concepts quickly.
• Ability to lead groups through problem solving sessions and meetings, identify viable solutions, and analyze the pros and cons of each.
• Good oral and written communication skills.  Possess the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
• Challenge the status quo and suggest ideas for continuous improvement.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Displays the ability to work in a team environment.

Knowledge of manufacturing operations and core processes.
Understanding of Production planning and scheduling
Plant floor control system concepts
Inventory management fundamentals
SPC concepts
Planned maintenance concepts

Plant metrics
Reporting requirements
