The Idaho Transportation Department is hiring an Engineer Manager 2 to join our Construction and Materials team located in Headquarters, Boise, ID.

This position oversees the Construction & Materials Section managing subject matter experts in highway construction and construction materials.

Relocation assistance may be available for the successful out-of-state candidate, in accordance with agency policy and subject to approval

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

  • Support the Department's effort for project delivery
  • Assume responsibility for the Department's Quality Assurance Program
  • Plan, organize, and direct the work of Engineers and technical experts for highway construction, and construction materials
  • Liaise with external partners such as the Idaho Associated General Contractors, Idaho ACEC materials, and the Idaho Division of FHWA
  • Represent the Department at national organizations such as AASHTO, WASHTO and others
  • Develop and maintain construction and materials manuals including the Standard Specifications for Highway Construction and supplementals, Quality Assurance Manual and others
  • Manage an operational budget
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Licensure:

  • Licensed in Idaho as a Professional Engineer (PE) Or eligibility for comity licensure by the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers in accordance with Idaho Code, Title 54, Chapter 12
  • Good knowledge of management practices

Experience:

  • Applying engineering principles to resolve complex engineering applications
  • Supervising professional and/or technical engineering staff Interpreting and applying federal, state, and local laws pertaining to engineering applications
  • Making oral presentations before groups relative to the merits of engineering applications
  • Writing professional engineering reports and related correspondence

MQ Specialties:

  • All positions will require experience in at least one of the following engineering specialties: Air Quality; Bridge Design; Contract Administration; Contract Claims; Dam Safety; Drinking Water; Geotechnical; Hydraulics; Hydrology; Pavement Design; Surface and Ground Water Protection; Wastewater; Materials Field Services; Water Allocation; or Water Management.
