- BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret state and local tax laws and regulations.
- Experience with tax audits, including multi-jurisdictional audit management.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large data sets.
- Proven experience implementing or managing indirect tax technology solutions.
- Experience with process improvement or automation initiatives.
- Strong prioritization, multitasking, problem-solving, and independent work capabilities.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Sabrix or other sales tax and accounts payable software is a plus.
What will your typical day look like?
- Liaise with external service providers for sales, use, and miscellaneous tax compliance as well as tax projects such as system implementations, due diligence, and voluntary disclosures.
- Coordinate data gathering and feeds for monthly tax compliance and manage team in shared services center.
- Manage calculation of required accruals for sales and use taxes and account reconciliations.
- Monitor nexus footprint and assist with business registrations.
- Conduct tax research and analysis to ensure proper tax treatment of transactions.
- Monitor, analyze, and communicate relevant tax law changes and legislative/regulatory developments.
- Collaborate with tax, IT, finance, and accounting teams on process improvements, automation initiatives, tax requirements, rate updates and ERP integrations.
- Train finance, operations, and other personnel on sales and use tax matters.
- Establish and maintain standardized processes and strong internal controls.
- Propose company policies for compliance and audit readiness.
- Manage exemption certificate storage, lifecycle, and application with a focus on audit readiness.
- Manage multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax audits, including interaction with auditors and scheduling.
- Support mergers & acquisitions and related tax system implementations.
