Senior Turbomachinery Engineer

Job Description

Senior Turbomachinery Engineer

Focused on rotating hardware, mechanical systems, and development testing of small gas turbine engines.

Overview

(On-Site)

This role supports the development of small gas turbine engines with an emphasis on rotating machinery, mechanical systems, and hands-on development testing. The position is intended for engineers who operate across design, development, and test, and who are comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where breadth, ownership, and execution matter.

Engineers in this role contribute directly to moving propulsion systems from concept through test and iteration, working closely with adjacent analysis and manufacturing functions to ensure designs can be built, tested, and scaled.

Range of Responsibilities
  • Support engine development from cradle to grave
  • Develop and mature rotating assemblies for small gas turbine engines
  • Create and refine 3D geometry for turbomachinery components
  • Optimize mechanical designs for performance, durability, and manufacturability (DFx)
  • Support development testing activities, including preparation, execution, and iteration
  • Work with bearings, shafts, seals, materials, balancing, and related mechanical systems
  • Support investigation of mechanical performance, vibration, and durability during development testing
  • Iterate with other engineers and manufacturing to optimize systems

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in gas turbine design, jet engine development, or high-speed rotating machinery
  • Experience with rotating assemblies and mechanical systems in turbomachinery applications
  • Experience with relevant materials, alloys, and manufacturing methods used in turbomachinery
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or NX

Preferred Experience
  • Exposure to rotating machinery dynamics, vibration, or mechanical failure modes in high-speed turbomachinery.
  • Experience working with jet turbines, UAS, or closely related propulsion programs
  • Hands-on involvement in development or experimental turbomachinery testing
  • Experience supporting test rigs, hardware checkout, or development test campaigns
  • Exposure to balancing, vibration, bearings, or rotating machinery dynamics

Benefits
  • Platinum healthcare benefits (medical, dental, vision) at no cost to the employee
  • 100% covered basic life/AD&D and long-term disability insurance
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Lunch and fully stocked kitchen
  • Relocation assistance (depending on role eligibility)

Salary Range:

$200,000 - $250,000 USD
