Centra Health is a constellation of hospitals, medical practices, outpatient facilities, and other services targeting the health care needs of residents in central Virginia. At the not-for-profit entity's core are two acute care facilities in Lynchburg: the 270-bed Lynchburg General, which is the region's main emergency center and specializes in orthopedic and cardiac care; and Virginia Baptist, a roughly 315-bed facility focused on cancer treatment, women's and pediatric care, mental health, and rehabilitation. Aside from its acute care operations, Centra operates an array of primary care physician practices, home health care services nursing homes, and numerous other physical and behavioral health businesses.
